Sidegate Lane Allotments Website - General Information

Our Aims

This is a Community Website, run by and for Sidegate Lane plot-holders. Its aims are to keep you up-to-date with what's going on; to provide information about shed opening-times and what is available to buy; and to be a source of advice, inspiration and features of interest.


Please Note: Information and advice given on this website is given in good faith, but it is the responsibility of users to ensure that any action they take as result of this website's content is appropriate and safe.

Ownership and Management

The Allotment Field is the property of Ipswich Borough Council (IBC). All plot-holders are tenants of the IBC. The Field is jointly managed by the Council and the Ipswich Allotment Holders Association (IAHA). For further information, please see the IBC website.

Day-to-day running of the Field is in the hands of a Field Committee, consisting of the Field Secretary and five other members.

The Field Secretary is the Field's representative at both the IAHA and IBC.

This website is run independently for Sidegate Lane plot-holders, and does not represent the IBC, the IAHA or any other organisation

This website does not collect any  personal data of its users.

If you send us messages via an Email-link on this site, or via a Contact Form, your identity and the information you send will seen initially by the Field Secretary or Website Administrator. Your identity and the information you send will only be shared with those who need to know in order to act upon your request.

If you have submitted any work (writing, photo etc) for publication on the site, we will only include your name if you have given us your permission to do so. If you change your mind, you must inform the Web Administrator by email. Such requests will be dealt with as soon as practicable, and in any case within 28 days of receipt.

IAHA Membership

Membership includes Public Liability Insurance, which is a requirement of your tenancy. You are at liberty to buy this insurance elsewhere. All those regularly working on your plot should join as a Member or Associate Member.

Membership also gives you access to the shed-shop.

Please bring your completed form and CASH payment to the shop. You will receive the left-hand portion of the form as a receipt. Please do not put cash in the letter-box, as it is not secure.
